Marc Bauer Fear Rage Desire, Still Standing

Siamo lieti di annunciare la mostra personale di Marc Bauer Fear Rage Desire, Still Standing, presso il Kunstmuseum di Basilea, con due interazioni nel corso dell'anno.

Marc Bauer è stato invitato in occasione della mostra "The First Homosexuals.The Birth of New Identities 1869–1939".

In questa mostra Marc esplora la storia, la memoria, il genere e l'identità attraverso la sua prospettiva queer. L'artista combina motivi tratti, tra gli altri, da Artemisia Gentileschi (1593–1654), Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450–1516) e Nasta Rojc (1883–1964) con fotografie selezionate sul web e materiali d'archivio.

Al centro del suo lavoro vi è la costruzione della mascolinità e la violenza che ne deriva, con cui la società e – tema centrale di questa esposizione – le persone queer in particolare si trovano a doversi confrontare.

Marc realizzerà disegni su parete, su carta e su tele sospese. Insieme a una colonna sonora composta dagli artisti berlinesi Sin Maldita (Tim Roth) e Philipp Hülsenbeck, queste opere danno vita a un'installazione multimediale.

We are delighted to announce the solo exhibition Fear Rage Desire, Still Standing by Marc Bauer at the Kunstmuseum Basel for over a year, undergoing two iterations during that time.

Marc was invited in connection with the exhibition "The First Homosexuals. The Birth of New Identities 1869–1939".

In this exhibition Marc explores history, memory, gender and identity from his queer perspective. He combines motifs by, among others, Artemisia Gentileschi (1593–1654), Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450–1516) and Nasta Rojc (1883–1964) with photos from the internet and archive material.

At the heart of his work is the construction of masculinity and the resulting violence that society and – as a central theme in this exhibition – queer people in particular are confronted with.

Marc creates drawings on walls, on paper and on hanging canvases. Together with a soundtrack composed by Berlin-based artists Sin Maldita (Tim Roth) and Philipp Hülsenbeck, they form a multimedia installation.
